Meeko's Laughter

Today we have had a good day!!! We got up and messed around the house for a little bit this morning and then went to the mall for some shopping. The boys were great at the mall and everything I went to get I was able to find at great deals.

We then had to go to the boys Doctor for a flu shot for Meeko and a check up for Flit(he has been running a low grade fever since Tuesday). Flit just has virus (no ear infections)and Meeko was not so excited about his shot. I tried to warn him prior to getting it but he still was not happy. He did a great job and only cried a little. Since Meeko was a such a brave boy mommy promised to get him a movie. He decided he want the movie Wall-E so we went to Wally World and picked it up on the way home. He has now watched it twice and is absolutely in love with it. The best part is his contagious laughter at certain parts. I loved to hear his laughter a lot more then his crying.

Since Meeko just flew into my room butt naked with a balloon bouquet(left over from Flit's birthday)I better let you go. Please pray for John Smith he is on his way home and should be back here by Sunday.

Flit's First Birthday Part 2

This weekend we had another party for Flit in Tally at GeeGee's and Geedaddy's house. We had our friends and family there to celebrate. We had a blast catching up with family and the kids had fun bouncing around.
The theme for this party was Cars so Aunt Ollie and Aunt Tacey decided to borrow some decorations from the church VBS closet so that it would look like a race track inside GeeGee's house. I had to work the night before so Aunt Ollie,Aunt Tacey, and GeeGee had to do most of the decorating and food prep for the party!!! Thank you to everyone for all their help.

Flit once again knew exactly what to do with his cake!!! He is so adorably and such a mess at the same time. He also got great gifts from everyone. We are going to have a great time playing with all his new toys.

The best part of this weekend is that I got some great pictures of the boys together. They are getting so big and I can't believe they are growing so fast.

Flit's First Birthday Part 1

Flit's first birthday was yesterday so we had a little get together with our friends in Jax. We will be having his big party next weekend at GeeGee and Geedaddy's house. Aunt Tacey came from Tally to spend the weekend with us and was (as always) a tremendous help with our little get together.

Flit had a blast with his presents. He got some really great toys to play with just ask Meeko.

Aunt S made Flit a big cupcake cake for his party and it was beautiul. Flit loved having everyone sing to him. He did not need any guidance in what to do with the cake and dug right in. Flit spent about hour eating his cake and was mess from head to toe. All in all I think Flit had a great birthday and can't wait to his big party this weekend.

Flit's First Hair Cut

Flit had his first haircut on Friday afternoon at Cookie Cutter. He did so well and did not cry once. My little Flit does not look like a baby any more which makes Pocahontas very sad.

Ear Tubes, Stitches, and Halloween

Life here in our little tribe has been quite busy lately!!! I have several post I keep putting off because of time but here goes.

Little Flit finally got ear tubes placed on Oct.29 and has been wonderful ever since. The surgery went really well and was over very quickly. We went for our postop appointment and everything looks great. Little Flit has become more mobile and talkative since the surgery. Thank you all for your support and prayers.

Meeko decided the day after Flit's surgery that Flit was getting to much attention so he decided to send us to ER for stitches.( I am don't think it was intetional)GeeGee was vaccuming when Meeko decided he desperatly needed juice and in the mist of his running to the kitchen he trip over the cord landing him right into the side of the island in our kitchen. Blood was everywhere so off to the ER we went. Two stitches and an emergency dentist appt. later all was better.

Stitches and surgery did not keep my boys down for long. They had a blast trick or treating with GeeGee and Geedaddy while mommy worked. I have to say my boys make the cutest pumpkin and gingerbread man ever.

It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

Last weekend my friend H and I took the boys to a Pumpkin Patch in Tallahassee and they had a blast. Meeko was amazed by the all the differents shapes, sizes and colors of the pumpkins. Flit was just amazed by everything going on around him. I had a blast just watching their reactions to everything. I will be taking them to a pumpkin carving party next weekend and plan to have a lot of pictures to post.

By the way we still have not recieved our paper orders yet and I am getting more and more frustrated as the time goes by. Please continue to pray we will recieve our orders very soon.

Not A Nasty Rumor.........

I am so sorry that it has taken me so long to return to they blog world but life here has been extremely stressful. Let me first say the John Smith is now an official Navy Chief and his pinning went off wonderfully.

As you read the title of this post " Not A Nasty Rumor...." you must wondering what is Pocahontas talking about. Well, just before pinning John Smith advised me that there was a possibility we would be transferring to duty stations sooner then I had expected. When I say sooner then I expected I mean I was expecting to move in around 18 mths. and now we could be moving in the next 2-3 mths. Right after pinning I found out this was not a nasty rumor but a fact that we were moving to Virginia. However we don't a hard copy off John Smith's orders so we have no idea when the move will be taking place. This makes things very stressful for me because I have no idea how long we have to pack, get things ready, or even when to put the house on the market to sale/rent. This makes me very nervous and I am a ready to run away. I ask that you all start praying that we get some answers soon and that God will provide for us. Please pray that the house will rent/sale soon and that everything will go smoothly. I am not looking foward to moving but as navy wife I knew this was going to happen.

On top of the "Not A Nasty Rumor" stress John Smith left two days after his pinning on deployment for almost 2 mths., work has changed my schedule back the working 7p-7a, and both the boys have been very sick. Flit has had pneumonia and a chronic ear infection that has now lasted 4wks. Flits has been on 4 different antibiotics and this ear infection the 4th one since June. We have visited an ENT and he will be having surgery on Nov. 4th!!!! Can see the trend with the number 4. Meeko has bronchitis and a double ear infections. The boys are both on the mend at this time think God. I have not had both boys sick at the same time and when John was gone!!!! They are both now with my parents during the week so I can work at night and I travel to see them on the weekend. I am very grateful to my parents and know that are in the best hands. However I can't help feeling like a crappy mom and miss them so much when they aren't here. One of my good friend pointed out that God doesn't give us more then when can handle and I am holding this to heart because I don't know how much more I can take right now.

I promise I will post in a more timely manner. Thank you for your support and prayers.

Hurry Up and Wait Game is Over

As of Saturday night my boys were back in my arms again and we were loving every minute. John Smith and I got word that his ship would not be deploying early so we decided to go get the boys from Tally. Meeko was so excited to see us and just watching his face light up made it worth the drive. Flit was excited to see us to but he really just wanted to eat dinner. It was very obvious to all that the boys had been sufficiently loved and spoiled by Geegee and Gedaddy.

We had to return home early Sunday morning so that John Smith could come back to do a car wash fundraiser for CPO Selectees. Unfortunately the other Chief Selectee did not get out of doing duty so John Smith had to do everything on his own. So I called in some reinforcements (thanks my favorite family of five) and the boys and I were off to help daddy!!!! It was not a great fundraiser but we are going to be doing more this weekend. We are having a garage sale on Sat. and John Smith will be washing cars again at Texas Roadhouse on Blanding on Sat afternoon. I am praying that he well make lots of money this weekend and that his partner in crime will step up to the plate and help.

Life has gotten back to normal around here now that everyone is home and in their rightful place!!!! The boys went back to school today and there were no flood works coming from either of them. Meeko just walked into his class and never looked back. He is learning so much and enjoying every minute he is at school. While the boys were at school I started cleaning my house and getting ready for John Smith's mother (lovingly called Mammaw by the boys) to come on Sat. and for my parents to come on Monday for John Smith's pinning. Life will be busy around here this next week!!! So put on your roller skates and come along for the ride.

Hurry Up And Wait Game

On Wednesday my wonderful boys went up to Tally to stay with my parents,Geegee and Geedaddy, because everyone thought that Hanna was heading our way. You see if we have any kind of tropical storm or hurricane heading toward us John Smith must pull out to sea with the ship and I am required to be on call for the hospital so that leaves the boys to fend for themselves. ( Like that would really happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Now that Hanna has bypassed us I want to go get my boys but we are now playing the hurry up and wait game with Hurricane Ike. I am so ready to see Meeko's red hair and Flit's contagious smile but don't want to get them until I know if Ike is coming our way. As of last night the weather people had three possible tracks that Mr.Ike could go!!!! John Smith is to hear today if they have to pull out to get away from the storm which we don't want because that would mean that he would be gone until November. I am so tired of waiting to see what a storm is going to do to decide what to do with my life.

I know my boys are being well taking care of and rather spoiled by their grandparents!!!!! My parents will never know how much I appreciate them and love them for being willing to help out at a moments notice. When they are there they are the center of attention for not only my parents but for their Aunt Ollie, her girls, and Aunt Stacy. Even though I know they are being more then well taken care of I miss them like crazy.

As of the last projected path Ike looks like he is going to miss us so once we hear from John Smith's bosses we ( or just me) will be going to pick up my indians. I will keep you up dated on the HURRY UP AND WAIT GAME!!!!!!

Welcome to Our Family

WELCOME TO OUR FAMILY'S STORY!!!!!! I started blogging a little over a year and a half ago just about what it was like being a left behind navy wife but I have decided that it was just to depressing for me to keep that blog up to date. So now I have decided to start this new blog about our family and all the exciting things going on in our lives.

Our family's story is going to be told through the characters of Pocohonas which might explain the name of this blog. Daddy-John Smith, Mommy- Pocohonas, first born-Nakoma, middle child-Meeko, and youngest child-Flit. John Smith is currently a Chief Select in the United States Navy and on Sept. 16th will be become an official Chief. I am (Pocohonas) a RN parttime and a fulltime mom. Nakoma has just started middle school and is 11 yrs old. Nakoma is John's first child from a previous marriage but I love her just as if I had given birth to her. Nakoma lives with her mom fulltime but visits often. Meeko is 3 yrs. old and keeps us all on our toes. Flit is 9mos. old and so laid back that you almost forget he is around most of the time.

John Smith and I dated when we were in highschool but went our seperate ways after high school only to meet up again five years later. We have been married for 5yrs now and have enjoyed almost every moment of our rollercoaster ride we call marriage. John Smith has been gone quite a lot over the last three years so we try to enjoy every moment we have together. We are trying to raise our children in a Christain home and hope that our children will grow up with a desire to know God personally. John Smith and I want our children to not only know that they are loved but feel that they are loved.

I can't wait to begin updating everyone about all the things our children and our family will be doing. So please stay tuned........ the chiefs will be back.
